Kuta, Bali

We have been in Bali a week already and I keep thinking we have to catch a flight home to NY soon...not sure how long this feeling will last. I have started to slow down and take each day as it comes which is hard for me to do, MJ says my motor is always running. Most of the mornings this week have been spent at the beach or exploring the town, the energy here is non-stop. The smell of motor bikes, incense, burning leaves, and exotic spices intermingle with the salt spray and it is intoxicating (although it could be the jet lag talking). They say it takes one day for every time zone traveled-we travel through 12) to get over jet lag and we are on day five. This week we are going to check out more of the island including some sacred temples, rice terraces, and some of the worlds best surf breaks to see where we will spend our remaining time here before we make our way to Thailand.

We made it!

Talk about planes, trains, and automobiles. In all, including waiting time at various airports, travel time to Bali was over 30 hours. Had great flights and good drivers and made to this paradise on schedule. Our bodies are still adjusting to the 12 hour time difference and I find sleeping way to easy. Today I will need to scale back the siesta to 30 minutes instead of 8 hours! We have found the hotel (Bliss Surfer Hotel) to be a great place to start our journey as the staff is very friendly and full of information about the people and traditions of Bali.. Today is going to be an exploration day for me- MJ is still happy to relax by the pool.

The side trip to NYC before coming to Bali was interesting. We decided to spend our time in Central Park but walked there from our hotel in the lower east side, about 2 miles each way. We were lucky enough to come across a parade celebrating the independence of Mexico and quickly got absorbed by the vibrance and energy of the event. NYC is a amazing place and we have given thought to living there for a month or two someday.
